There are three types of pieces in Rubik's 3x3x3 Cube.
They are as follows..

- Centre Pieces
- Middle or Edge Pieces
- Corner Pieces
1.Centre Pieces:
- The piece which located at the centre of the cube is known as centre piece.
- Basically a 3x3x3 cube has 6 centre pieces.
- Each face has one centre piece, in this way 6 sides/faces have 6 centre pieces.
- Each Centre Piece has only one color on it.
2.Middle Pieces:
- The pieces which are located at the edges of a centre piece are known as Middle/Edge Pieces
- Basically 3x3x3 has three layers and each layers has 4 Middle Pieces. So the total number of middle pieces in a 3x3x3 Rubik's cube is 4x3=12
- Each middle piece has two distinct colors, and also each piece is unique in 3x3x3.
